Hey friend, I’m Lex
All Out Psychotherapy & Consultation is place for BIPOC LGBTQ+ adults to explore and understand themselves with the support of a queer Black woman therapist who has been there and will walk with you the entire way.
Therapy with me is empathetic, engaging, and empowering. I offer this space for you to be yourself and to know that you will always be welcomed. Sometimes we feel like our stuff is too much. Here, I will always have a place for you to unpack.
My background as a psychotherapist began in 2013 before becoming a licensed professional. I entered the healing arts as reproductive justice and student organizer in Atlanta. I also received mentoring from brilliant Black women scholars including Dorothy Roberts, Loretta J. Ross, and Mary Anne Adams MSW. And I developed my own scholarship about the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and mental health, which would lay the foundation for All Out Psychotherapy & Consultation, PLLC.
In 2015, I started by career in social work as a student at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice. I’ve worked in a variety of settings including child welfare, LGBTQ+ healthcare, trans care services, trauma level hospitals, and outpatient community healthcare.
Ultimately, what informs my clinical practice more than anything is the following: my upbringing as a child of divorced, non-Judeo-Christian Nigerian immigrants; surviving online sexual exploitation; healing from intimate partner violence in heterosexual presenting and queer presenting relationships; having long-term rich friendships with amazing Black and Brown queer and trans people; my advocacy for sex workers and the kink/BDSM community; my professional training in improvisational comedy, stand-up comedy, and comedic writing; and ultimately being unapologetically myself.
